As King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 3:1, For everything there is a season.

What a marvelous mystery!

Cambrils Church Plant
In mid-August we found another rental building. As far as the size, the remodeling required and the price, it is the best place we have found so far. But again, we are waiting for the final city government approval. This time, the negotiations with city hall on our behalf were handed over to a local legal firm. At last week’s follow-up meeting with the paralegal, we were told to give city hall 3 months to respond to our application (which will put us at December 1st). If they haven’t responded by then, it will be considered “administrative silence” and we can begin renting without their written approval.

A few weeks ago we began teaching a second mid-week Bible study with a group of believers (most are from the Dominican Republic) in Salou. Salou is another coastal community about 15 minutes by car from Cambrils. We hope that this group will incorporate into the Cambrils church plant.

Do you remember the story of Dianna – the young girl who was born again a few months ago and just finished the 9-week discipleship class with us? She attends the main church service with us almost every Sunday evening. Her new boyfriend has come to a few of our Bible studies and just last night, he attended the church service for the first time and was born again!!

Family Update
Susan’s father turned 85 in September and we were able to take vacation and organize a family get-together to celebrate with him (in Kansas). We also were blessed to travel to Amarillo, Texas to visit Steve’s mother and brother. Then we headed to Houston to enjoy some time with our children. We got there just days before the arrival of Hurricane Ike! It wasn’t exactly the vacation we had envisioned but it certainly was interesting!

We continue to depend on your prayers for Cambrils and for Spain. Partnering with you as we pioneer this area is a privilege. This month we also ask you to pray for our ministry and in particular for our finances. Some of our supporting churches and supporting individuals were hit hard by Hurricane Ike which is resulting in loss of income for us.

Everything you were taught can be put into a few words: Respect and obey God!

This is what life is all about. (Ecc 12:13, CEV)

Blessings,
Steve and Susan
